DGSHAPE celebrates success at IDS 2019
With live demos of DGSHAPE’s market-leading wet and dry milling devices, 11 seminars hosted by 7 internationally-renowned Key Opinion Leaders and a high-energy celebration event with hundreds of guests, the DGSHAPE booth was once again a ‘must-visit’ destination at the recent International Dental Show (IDS) in Cologne, Germany. Visitors to the DGSHAPE booth were impressed with the ease of use, material compatibility and unattended production capability offered by DGSHAPE devices.
The DGSHAPE stand was divided into 2 client-specific areas;
- For in-office clinic labs, the Clinic Zone featured smaller format products designed to facilitate same-day dentistry applications.
- For dedicated dental laboratories, the Lab Zone featured larger products designed to facilitate high production capability for advanced applications.The primary themes for DGSHAPE at IDS this year were ‘The Pioneers in Scalable CAD/CAM Technology’ and ‘Shape your Future’.
DGSHAPE solutions could be found on display in 4 of the 6 show halls, demonstrating how effectively its open architecture integrates with other technologies for true ‘scalability’.
The DWX-52DCi 5-axis dry dental mill with disc changer, mills a wide range of materials including zirconia, wax, PMMA, composite resin, PEEK, gypsum, CoCr sinter metal and fibre-reinforced resin. The DWX-52DCi offers round the clock unattended production capabilities.
The DWX-42W 4-axis wet dental mill allows clinicians to bring some aspects of lab production in-house. The DWX-42W mills industry-popular glass ceramics blocks for a range of indications and now supports PMMA milling for temporary prostheses. New for the DWX-42W is its spindle. Breaking away from a common industry practice of outsourcing spindle technology, DGSHAPE engineered the DWX-42W spindle in-house to maintain quality control and increase its service levels to its customers. The spindle could be seen on display next to the DWX-42W.
An exciting innovation for labs looking to expand their business with minimal investment, the new DGSHAPE Time Reduction Kits showcased on the booth generated a great deal of interest. ‘Digital Dentures’ is an emerging technology with huge potential growth. The Time Reduction Kits enable labs to easily add Digital Dentures to their product offering using tools in their existing inventory and without investing in new technology.
Shape Your Future
Reflecting the futuristic theme, the booth had a number of attractions representing the latest technology for labs to understand emerging trends in the industry. The Virtual Reality experience gave visitors the chance to experience the lab of the future, the second-generation DWINDEX performance management software showed labs how to analyse and predict the output of their devices for maximum production efficiency, and the Renfert EASY view 3D allowed visitors to experience the power of an innovative digital microscope with 3D capabilities to enhance their quality control.
During the show, Key Opinion Leaders from around the world hosted a wide-ranging series of informative and insightful seminars to highlight the benefits of digital CAD/CAM. 3 of the sessions reinforced the necessity of dentists to bring milling technology in-house for faster patient turnaround and better patient outcomes, while the remaining sessions focused on showing laboratory managers/owners ways to increase profitability and efficiency in their organisations.
At the show DGSHAPE unveiled its new updated branding, reflecting the relationship between DGSHAPE and its parent company, Roland DG Corporation, and the growth the company has experienced since its entry into the dental industry.
During a celebration event on the stand where invited guests including customers, media, show visitors and industry partners were in attendance, Hisashi Bito, President DGSHAPE Corporation commented ‘Roland DG first exhibited dental solutions at IDS in 2011. In the 8 years since the first dry mill was brought to market, the range has expanded to encompass 4 different technologies, across 11 products, including software, wet grinding and additive manufacturing. Even more impressive, the business has doubled since IDS 2017, where we first launched our DGSHAPE subsidiary to focus on growing markets such as dental. This level of exponential growth proves that Roland DG, and now DGSHAPE, is committed to the dental market and that its growth is powered by its unique market solutions and deep relationship with its customers who frequently return to DGSHAPE as their business expands.’
Bito continues ‘The combination of 30 years of benchtop milling expertise and our close ties to our users has allowed us to very rapidly bring new solutions to market to fulfil unmet needs. We look forward to continuing this strong tradition of user-led applications development to achieve greater mutual success.’
