BrandingHub says it has created 'a winning formula' by evolving from a sign company into a full-service branding agency, relying on the UK's first Roland TrueVIS VF2-640 to get work done fast.
Formerly SM Signs, Ayr's BrandingHub transformed around 18 months ago. Managing Director Graeme Speirs saw a growing market demand for a full package – logo design, social media set-up, business cards, vehicle graphics, signage and more – so took the plunge to re-establish.
"I felt it was time for a change as well," he says. "Since becoming BrandingHub we've been flying. It's really been a winning formula for us and for our customers. They range from multi-site organisations to local councils to self-employed people, and we work with them from start to finish. We think of it as a partnership."
Time for a Change
In June 2020, BrandingHub invested in two new Roland systems from supplier Signmaster Systems: a TrueVIS VF2-640 printer, the first to be installed in the UK, and a TrueVIS VG2-640 printer/cutter.
The VF2 is the latest addition to Roland's groundbreaking TrueVIS range. A standalone printer, the TrueVIS VF2 combines Roland’s latest innovative TR2 ink (with new Green and Orange) with the True Rich Color 2 preset to deliver incredible colour reproduction – both natural shades and eye-popping brights – without compromising on speed. Alongside this, the TrueVIS VG2 is an award-winning combination solution with extraordinary colour quality and cutting accuracy, with a design built on Roland's three decades of expertise and customer feedback.
"The VF2 works at a phenomenal speed," says Graeme. "It's great for last-minute print jobs and the quality is excellent, even at a fast pass rate. We've noticed we're using less ink, so that's reduced costs as well as downtime. It also has great ease of use. I was the only one who operated our old printers but now all the guys are trained up. Now I have a bit more time for a cup of tea!"
The BrandingHub team has also tested Roland's claim that the TrueVIS VG2 makes it possible to finish stunning quality prints in just six hours.
"It does what Roland says it will – it's definitely possible to turn around same-day work on the TrueVIS VG2", says Graeme.
The two new Roland printers arrived just in time for BrandingHub to handle a surge in orders for social distancing signage and floor graphics. In addition, many businesses took the opportunity to rebrand or refresh their graphics over the lockdown period, including Scotland's five racecourses. The courses' operator's branding involves an unusual colour combination of red and pink, which BrandingHub was able to achieve easily with the TrueVIS duo.
"We've always used Roland machines because the colour is consistent across different machines and they are extremely reliable," says Graeme Speirs. "I built my business on a Roland Uniform Cadet 14 years ago and it was still working fine until the day it was replaced by the new TrueVIS printers this June. It was time to invest in cutting-edge technology but it was still sad to say goodbye!"
Following the busy post-lockdown period, Graeme is optimistic about BrandingHub's future, with a possible expansion across south-west Scotland.
"We want BrandingHub in Ayr to be just that: a 5,000sq ft hub, with satellite offices improving our high street presence. We can offer all the services of an advertising agency but at a lower cost, all under one roof."
